What's The Scoop

This week's post is not about products but about a great place to visit during the fall and a fun Halloween activity.

#1
Honeysuckle Hill Farm is a wonderful place to take the family for a fun fall day. Its a pumpkin farm in Springfield, Tennessee. If you haven't been, beware of the directions you get from Mapquest. This place is in the middle of nowhere!!
If you go, plan on at the very least a few hours and at the most a good portion of your day. They have a covered pavilion so if you want to pack a lunch you can eat there. There is also a little shop that sells drinks, hamburgers, nachos, and other things like that.
Its $8 per person to get in and that includes picking out a small pumpkin from the patch to take home. I think children 2 and under are free but you may want to check the website to verify.
Once there, you can try your directional skills in several corn mazes, the kids can slide down the cool spider slide or the popular Monster Rippler slide. There are swings made from tires and old horse saddles. You can wander around and look at chickens, goats, cows and even try your hand at "milking" a wooden cutout of a cow. There is a huge sandpit where there are diggers and toys and lots of tricycles and ride-ons. My boys favorite part was the huge bin of corn kernels (picture the huge ball pits at places like Chuck E Cheese- only imagine it filled with corn kernels) they could jump in and play. They brought several kernels home as souvenirs in their clothes. :) I found them at the bottom of my washing machine. There is a hayride that takes you to another corn maze where you can test your skill with an easy way or difficult.
All of the above is included in the entry price. The only thing not included is a ride on the cow train for the little ones. Its $1 a person.
We went this past Saturday and had a blast!

"Boo"ing
Have you been Boo'd or Boo'd someone? If you haven't done it and no one has started it in your neighborhood, you could be the first! We did this last year and had so much fun with it. I'm including a link to a website that will help you get started with a Boo poem and the rules.
Get two baskets, gift bags, pumpkin candy holders, whatever you think would be cool to put some treats in- be creative. Get some treats, toys, baked goodies (again you can be as creative as you want) and fill your baskets. Print out 2 copies each of the Boo Poem and the rules. You will also need to print out a picture of 2 ghosts or just cut them out of construction paper.
Put your baskets together with the goodies, include the Boo poem, the rules, and a ghost. When its dark, deliver it to a neighbor, ring the doorbell and run!
The two neighbors you "Boo" are asked in the poem to "Boo" two more and so on... The people who get Boo'd put the ghost in their window so that everyone knows they have already been Boo'd. Its fun to see how it spreads through the neighborhood!
My boys had the best time taking the Boo baskets around. They thought it was hilarious to ring the doorbell and run.
